What is theHoneymoonGift.com and how does it work?
theHoneymoonGift.com is the bridal registry where the gift is the honeymoon. Couples register their honeymoon on-line and their guests make gift contributions for the purchase of specific Honeymoon Items or for Honeymoon Hours that the couple has registered for.

In a "nutshell," here is how it works:

1. The couple fills out a honeymoon registry form with all of the things they wish to do on their honeymoon.

2. We will create their registry and notify them by email when it is ready (usually in just a few hours).

3. Couples can then print out invitation inserts to place in their wedding invitations to let everyone know they are registered with us.

4. Couples can also create a free wedding webpage.

5. Guests will go online and donate money to their honeymoon by purchasing items from their registry. We will email them whenever a gift is given - they may also check their registry at any time to see what has been given and by whom.

6. About one month before the wedding, we will send a check to the couple for all gifts given to them so far (minus our 8% fee). We will send them another check about one week after their wedding for any other gifts that have been given.

7. After the wedding, we will also send the couple an email with a Givers List attached with the names of everyone who gave to their honeymoon registry plus the gifts they gave.

What are Honeymoon Items?

Honeymoon Items are specific portions of the couples honeymoon such as Airline Tickets, Hotel Nights, Dinner for Two, etc. for which guests can make gift contributions.

What are Honeymoon Hours?

Honeymoon Hours are gift units that the guests give to the couple. Each Honeymoon Hour is $25.00 that the couple can apply to the cost of their honeymoon. To determine how many Honeymoon Hours are needed the couple divides the cost of their honeymoon by 25. For example if the honeymoon is expected to cost $3,000 then the couple would register for 50 Honeymoon Hours.

How will my personal information be used?

Your privacy is respected by theHoneymoonGift.com. Information provided to us will only be used to administer the registry and will not be provided to outside parties. We do not sell mailing or phone lists!

 

Do you accept international credit cards?

We do accept international credit cards. There may be a 2-4 week delay on any gifts given from overseas, so please place your order early so that the couple may receive the gift in a timely manner. If you have any questions, trouble using an international credit card or it is declined, please contact us at 1-866-389-3323 or by email at customerservice@thehoneymoongift.com.

Why shouldn’t we just ask for cash?

Everyone wants their gift to mean something special and be memorable to the newlyweds. Usually the giver and the receiver are never really sure what the cash was used for and the cash gift gets lost in obscurity. With honeymoon gifts, every time the couple opens their honeymoon photo album they will remember the Honeymoon Items that you purchased for them because each couple will receive our beautiful Keepsake Givers List as a permanent reminder of all those who helped give them the honeymoon of their dreams. How much does it cost to use theHoneymoonGift.com?

There are no up front fees or set-up charges. theHoneymoonGift.com retains an 8% processing fee (typically less then what guests would pay for sales tax, gift wrapping and gas to and from the store) of all gifts that are given to the couple (for example, for a $25.00 gift, the bride & groom will receive $23.00) . Our fee covers the cost of credit card transaction fees, printing, postage, web hosting and other expenses. The only other charges you may incur are if you purchase invitation inserts or request a 3rd check to be mailed to you.

How do we register?

Step 1. Decide what items you want to register for. You may choose from the list below or you may add your own if it is not listed (item must be at least $25.00). You may have up to 15 registry items in your list. You can include specific item descriptions such as “Deluxe Suite in Our Lucaya Beachfront Resort, Grand Bahama Island ”

 

Note: If you are going on an all-inclusive honeymoon, or you are not sure where you are going or what you are doing when you get there, you may make up categories or simply ask for “Honeymoon Hours” ($25.00 each).

 

Step 2. Decide how much each item will cost. You may enter the amount you know/believe the item might cost. You should list items with a range of prices to fit your guests various budgets. Expensive items can be broken into smaller pieces for instance, if your plane ticket costs $800, you may wish to list it as "plane ticket $200" and ask for a quantity of 4 to make it more affordable for your guests.

 

Step 3. Decide how many of each item you want.

 

Step 4. Complete the on-line Registry Form and we will create a custom Honeymoon Registry Page for you. (please note: it may take up to 24 hours for your registry to be created. We will notify you by email when it has been completed.)  View Sample Registry.

When should we open our registry?

The sooner you open your registry and inform your guests of your Honeymoon Registry the better. Early giving will help you budget your honeymoon and pay deposits.

When will we receive our money?
Two checks will be mailed from the registry. The first check will be mailed approximately one month before the wedding date. The final check will be mailed within one week after the registry is closed. The checks will be made for the amount of Honeymoon Items purchased at the time of the mailing less theHoneymoonGift.com’s processing fee. NOTE: Please inform us of any change of address as soon as possible. If mail is lost or not forwarded, the couple must wait 60 days for the check to be void and receive a replacement check with no charge or pay the stop payment fee to receive an immediate replacement check. (see our terms and conditions for more information).

Can we change the dates that we receive our checks?

Yes, you can. Simply email or call us and we will change the dates for you. If you wish for a third check to be sent, there will be a $3.00 charge.


How do we let our guests know that we are registered at theHoneymoonGift.com?

We offer several styles of invitation inserts that you may print for free and place in your wedding invitations. If you wish for us to print them out and mail them to you, there is an additional charge. Click here for more information on invitation inserts.

How do we know when a gift has been given to us?

You will receive an email every time a gift is purchased from your Honeymoon Registry. This email will usually have the subject "Honeymoon Registry Update" with the date following. This email simply tells you that a gift has been given. It will contain a link to your Registry Page where

you may view all of the gifts that have been given so far. You may check your Honeymoon Registry Page anytime to see what gifts have been given. The "Givers List" section at the bottom will show you the names of everyone who has given to your Honeymoon Registry.

**Please note: it may take up to 24 hours after an order has been placed for the Honeymoon Registry Page to be updated.

Can we remove the Givers List from our honeymoon registry page?

Yes. How long does the registry remain active?

The registry remains open for one week after the scheduled wedding date to allow last minute and belated gift givers an opportunity to participate, unless the couple requests otherwise.

How do I make changes to my Honeymoon Registry?

There are two ways to modify your registry:

1. Send us an email at customerservice@thehoneymoongift.com telling us the changes you wish to make.

2. Use the form on our modify registry page. The purpose of this form is to let us know the changes you would like to make. We make the changes for you, and email you when they are complete.

I am trying to modify my registry, and it says that my email address is not valid. What is wrong?

The screen you are on is intended for guests purchasing gifts for a couple. If you go to our Modify Registry form you will be able to modify your registry.

Why buy Honeymoon Items instead of buying conventional bridal registry gifts?

Toasters and towels wear out but honeymoon memories last a lifetime. Every time the couple opens their honeymoon photo album they will remember the Honeymoon Items that you purchased for them. Many people getting married today already have the items on a conventional bridal registry. theHoneymoonGift.com believes strongly that newlyweds should try to remain debt free. Wedding vows are supposed to be for a lifetime. High debt load and the stress and anxiety that go along with it are major factors causing marriages to fail. How will the couple know I gave a gift?

There are several ways the couple will know that a gift was given.

1. Your name will appear on the "Givers List" section of the couple's Honeymoon Registry Page. (Note: It may take up to 24 hours for your name to appear on the webpage)

2. The couple will receive an email informing them that an item has been purchased from their registry.

3. You can purchase a personalized wedding card from theHoneymoonGift.com with your name, personal message and the Honeymoon Items you purchased. Gift cards should be ordered no later than 2 weeks before the wedding date.

4. A beautiful Keepsake Givers List is sent to the couple when their registry is closed. This list shows the names and items purchased of all those who helped the couple have the honeymoon of their dreams. Every time the couple opens their honeymoon photo album they will have a permanent reminder of your gift. The only way to be included on the Givers List is to give Honeymoon Items through theHoneymoonGift.com.

Will anything be sent to me when I place an order?

You will receive two emails from us when you place an order. One will verify your account has been created (for if you ever return to theHoneymoonGift.com), the other will be an email receipt for your purchase. We will not contact you further unless we have a question about your order.

We will not send anything to you, the guest, unless you purchase a gift card or a book. Simply ignore the "shipping address" section during checkout if you are not buying a book or gift card.


When and how does the money get to the newlyweds?

Is my credit card information safe?

Yes. It is our policy to keep your credit card information secure per the current industry standards. When you enter your credit card information online, we use a secure order site, which encrypts and protects your credit card information. Look for the https://. The "s" after "http" indicates a secure server. Also, look for the little lock symbol in your browsers status bar. This indicates a secure server.

Can I get a refund?

We're unable to give refunds after a transaction has been completed. There are two reasons for this policy. First, when a gift transaction is completed the Honeymoon Items database is automatically updated. Second, since two gift checks are automatically mailed to the registered couple on predefined dates it is possible that your gift has already been sent to the couple.

Can I pay by check?

Yes, if you prefer to pay by check you can mail your payment for the number of Honeymoon Items that you wish to give. Make checks payable to theHoneymoonGift.com, PO Box 117 Clarksville , Ohio 45113 . In order for your gift to be included on the Givers List you must make your Honeymoon Hours gift through theHoneymoonGift.com. It will take 10 business days after the check is deposited to credit it to the couple's account. Returned checks will be charged a $35.00 fee.

Why does it ask for shipping information when I check out?

The shipping information is only needed if you are purchasing a gift card or a book. Why is my credit card being declined/ getting an error message?

There are a few possibilities for this:

1. Make sure that the billing address you entered when you checked out matches what the credit card company has on file.

2. Make sure that we accept your type of credit card. We accept: Visa, Mastercard and American Express.
